- Dipping strips of
flannel cloth into warmed vinegar and then
wrapping them around the wrists is said to bring
down fevers.
- Sunburn - Use 1
part tea tree oil to 1 part aloe vera gel and
apply.
- Headache - Apply 1
drop of lavender, peppermint or rosemary oil to
back of the neck and temples.
- Allergy and asthma
relief - Add a few drops of eucalyptus, lavender,
sage, peppermint or wintergreen to a pot of
boiling water or a vaporizer.
- Skin abrasions -
Apply one drop of sage or lavender oil to speed
healing.
- Oils for
refreshment and invigoration: Sage, lemon, lime,
pine, eucalyptus.
- Oils to calm,
nervous tension and emotional stress: Sage, pine,
geranium, rosemary, pennyroyal.
- Oils for pleasant
dreams and insomnia: Anise, chamomile, ylang

of slippery elm will draw out a stubborn
splinter.
- To remove a
foreign object from the eye, place a whole flax
seed in it. Allow it to swish around for a few
seconds and it should then expel itself out the
corner of the eye with the object attached to it.
- Add 50 drops of
natural orange essential oil to 4 oz of pet or
people shampoo to kill fleas.
- To help your
rheumatic pet, put 6 drops of natural rosemary
oil into 1/2 cup of water and massage the painful
area.
- Catnip is famous
for stimulating cats. However, when taken by
humans as a tea its very soothing and
calming.
- Drinking a glass
of water with 1 drop of natural peppermint oil in
it will reduce nausea and promote digestion.
- To dispel a
headache inhale natural peppermint oil. Works
well for stuffy heads and sinuses.
- Apple pectin has
magnetic properties that attract ions of metal in
the blood such as lead, arsenic, and other
pollutants. These are then flushed from the
system. Pectin also regulates the bowels and is
effective in lowering cholesterol levels in the
blood.
- Cayenne pepper
kills bacteria in the blood and carries nutrients
to the place they are need faster than any other
natural agent. It can lower blood pressure as
well as dissolve cholesterol deposits. It is also
helpful for the heart and stomach.
- To relieve
neuralgia (spasms of pain), add several drops of
natural lavender oil to your bath.
- Pulled muscles may
be aided by soaking a flannel cloth in buttermilk
and warming it in the oven. Apply to the area
needed and cover to keep warm.
- Apply a paste of
baking soda and water to treat poison ivy. It
works as good as calamine lotion in stopping
itching.
- Bed sores have
found relief by applying a honey covered gauze
pad to the sore each night and again in the
morning after gently washing. Should heal within
2 weeks.
- To stop bleeding
apply witch hazel directly to cuts and scrapes.
- Gather up cobwebs
and roll in a ball. Save these to apply to wounds
that are bleeding, as it stops the blood quickly.
- For bowel
disorders, soak a flannel cloth in warm caster
oil and place on the small of the back (covered
with plastic) for 15 minutes. Repeat once a day
until bowels move satisfactorily.
- Eating an apple
before retiring aids sleeping.
- Applying a dab of
toothpaste to an insect bite will stop the
itching fast.
- Applying vinegar
directly to a sunburned area will relieve pain
quickly.
- Apply the milk
from a dandelion stem several times a day to
remove warts.
- A poultice made
from a fresh grated potato is well received in
relieving the itching of eczema.
- A shampoo
substitute can be made by beating an egg and
massaging it into the scalp twice each week.
Rinsing with vinegar water and then with plain
water will leave a shiny and healthy head of
hair.
